Press release date: Thursday 13 July 2023
Entries for the Trackrod Rally Yorkshire (22/23 September) will open on 4 August and the organisers are expecting high demand for places on one of the most significant gravel rallies in the UK this season.
The event regulations will be published on 1 August and entries will initially be open from 4 to 6 August. As before, a random draw will be used to select entries and, subject to space, the entry system will then be re-opened. Exact details of the selection process will be detailed in the event regulations.
Trackrod Rally Yorkshire is the only rally to include rounds of the British Rally Championship, the British Historic Rally Championship and the BTRDA Rally Series. The highly respected rally will retain a compact route starting and finishing in Filey and taking in all single-use stages on gravel. The Trackrod will mark the only visit of the season to the classic Yorkshire forest stages in the Dalby complex for three major rally championships.
The rally is also a round of the Motorsport UK English Rally Championship, the HRCR Motoscope Northern Historic Rally Championship, the ANECCC SG Petch Stage Rally Championship, ANCC Stage Rally Championship, the Bowler Defender Challenge, the ANWCC Forest Rally Championship and the MINI Rally Challenge.
The route will include a 12-mile stage in Dalby on Friday evening, offering a rare chance to compete on gravel in the dark. As well as the BRC and BHRC contenders, the Bowlers and MINIs will run on Friday evening. On Saturday, the Trackrod Forest Stages will cover a full 45 miles as round seven of the BTRDA Rally Series, with no double usage of stages on Saturday. The concluding two stages of the rally will be 12 and 13 miles long.
The MINI Rally Challenge is an addition to the 2023 rally and crews will tackle the opening stage on Friday evening as well as the first loop of stages on Saturday before finishing at lunch time. Any MINI crews who then wish to complete the remaining stages on Saturday afternoon will be accommodated.
The organisers will acknowledge the major contribution from the marshalling community by presenting 20 random marshal awards of £100 each. This will bring the total budget for this important sector to over £5000, part of which is donated by the competitors in their entry fees. No event can run without the support of the unsung heroes and volunteers can register their availability via: firstname.lastname@example.org or on-line at www.rallystageteam.co.uk
Rod Parkin, Trackrod Rally Yorkshire Clerk of Course said: “We are very pleased with the level of interest in our rally and we look forward to a bumper entry. The stages are in excellent condition and with no double usage on Saturday we are confident that competitors will enjoy a great day in the fabulous Yorkshire forests.”
